Question:
Can 0W-40 be Used Instead of Straight Weight 40W?
My boat engine requires straight weight 40W. Does the Mobil 1 0W-40 meet the requirement?
-- William Knudsen, Wyandotte, MI
Answer:
We make a 0W-40 AND a 10W-40 HIGH Mileage oil. Both products will provide SAE 40 grade viscometrics as the vehicle reaches operating temperature so you could use either product. We recommend you try using the Mobil1 High Mileage 10W-40  product. It can be used for new as well as older vehicles and would provide good protection for your boat engine.
