Gear Lube Effect on Transmission Brass Components
In regard to the Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 Gl-5 LS gear oil. Does the statement "Excellent rust, staining and corrosion protection of copper and its alloys" mean that the additives in the product will not eat away at the brass components in the gears of the manual transmission of my 1998 Pathfinder?

Answer:
Nissan recommends a GL-4 type gear lubricant for your Pathfinder. Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube is an API GL-5 gear oil and would not be recommended for your manual transmission.
