| | I love my Jeep. It gets used on the trails from Utah to Pennsylvania while still serving duty as my daily commuter (75 miles per day). It has never been a trailer queen. The 4.0L I-6 runs well with aftermarket exhaust and cold air intake. It's lifted and rolling on moderately-sized 35x12.50x15 tires. I've always done all of the maintenance and upgrades myself. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
When I purchased it, the service technician recommended I use the blue & red V conventional oil. My father also agreed that conventional was proven and safer than the new 'made-in-a-laboratory' oils. I took their advice for the first 35,000 miles. I started having issues starting in the cold Colorado winter mornings, and the motor began developing some odd and intermittent sounds. The dealership assured me that they were 'normal.' I sought the advice of the internet and researched synthetics. Everywhere I looked, people pointed to Mobil 1 as the best. The price per quart scared me a little, but I tried it. No joking, a day after the first Mobil 1 oil change the sounds started to occur less frequently and eventually stopped altogether. The higher initial price actually saved me money in the long run because I now stretch out the change intervals to 5,500 instead of 3,000 miles. The oil doesn't break down and smell used, and has provided great winter! startup protection since I first poured it in the valve cover. I recommend Mobil 1 to anyone who respects their vehicle.
